This botanical garden is in the original place of the Baluarte de Santiago, the last of the eight bastions that completed the fortification system. Its current form differs greatly from the original design which was similar to the Baluarte de San Carlos on the opposite side of the sea wall.

The botanical garden called “X'much Haltún” located in the heart of the city, it is an open space that shows some of the most representative varieties of the flora of the region.
