The state of Campeche has very special traditions to celebrate the dead. A very particular one is found in the north of the state, in the Mayan community of Pomuch, where they still have the tradition of cleaning the bones of the remains of their loved ones in the cemetery in preparation for the Day of the Dead.
It is also a picturesque community famous in the peninsula for the quality of its traditional Pomuch bread, still prepared in stone ovens, which gives it an incomparable texture and flavor.
